"Does Increasing Public Spending in Health Improve Health? Lessons from a Constitutional Reform in Brazil"

Rudi Rocha holds a BA and a MSc in economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, IE-UFRJ, and a PhD in economics from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio, 2011). He was awarded the Haralambos Simeonidis Prize (30th Edition, for the best PhD dissertation, 2012). He is an associate professor at the São Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP/PAE), a research associate at the ESRC Research Centre on Micro-Social Change (MiSoC/Essex), and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Instituto Escolhas. He was awarded the Newton Fellowship by the British Academy (2016-2019), appointed vice-president of the Brazilian Econometric Society (2014-2016) and chapter head of the LACEA/IADB/World Bank/UNDP Research Network on Inequality and Poverty (NIP, 2004-2008). His research has appeared in top international journals, such as the American Economic Journal (Applied), The Economic Journal, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Development Economics, The Lancet, among others. His research focuses on applied econometrics and policy impact evaluation, health economics and demography, and environmental economics.
