Prof. Dr. Stefan Felder

On October 14, the bche held its first autumn forum entitled "Higher deductibles for all?" at the Faculty of Law at the University of Basel. Prof. Dr. Armando N. Meier gave the 50 or so participants a brief overview of the cost trends in mandatory health insurance (OKP). Prof. Dr. Stefan Felder and Dr. Stefan Meyer then presented the results of the Helsana Report: Income & Premiums.

The study, which was written in collaboration with Prof. Kurt Schmidheiny, examined the relationship between household income and the choice of insurance model. The three researchers also calculated the savings potential of increasing the minimum deductible from CHF 300 to CHF 500. After the presentation, Sebastian Briellmann (BaZ) moderated the discussion with Andrea Bischof (Helsana) and the two authors of the study. At the end, the microphone was opened to the participants. The interesting and sometimes controversial discussions continued at the subsequent drinks reception.

We would like to thank Ms. Bischof in particular for her willingness to answer questions at the forum and Mr. Briellmann for his professional moderation.
